Why we have members

Oxford Cycle Workshop is the only bike shop in Oxford that invites its customers to join as 'members'. When we set the workshop up in 2002 we wanted to create a space where people in our community could come to learn about their bikes and fix them themselves. We also wanted to create a community of people who cycle, whether it's to work, the shops, for sport or just for the fun of it. We wanted to give them a place to connect and a common voice for their concerns.

We're still working towards that vision, but we've already got a long way, and our 300+ membership makes us one of the largest 'clubs' in Oxford. Of course there are some more tangible financial benefits to being a member...

What you get as a member

- A four lesson cycle maintenance course, covering punctures, brakes, gears, wheels and bearings, and everything you need to know for routine maintenance. (A similar course at Oxpens College costs over £30)
- A hefty 20% reduction on any new stock items in the shop. If what you want isn't in the shop we can usually order it, in which case you get 10% off.
- Access to our workshop for your own use on Member’s Night which runs from 6.30 until 9pm on Tuesday evenings. We make a small charge of £2 for the first hour, and £1 per additional hour. Not only does this mean you can use all the professional tools, you also have immediate access to any spares you may need (including used parts) and you can ask us for help if you get stuck!
- A discount of £5 per hour on one-to-one cycle training, and access to group courses for level 2.
- A regular e-mail newsletter, with members' offers, news about cycling issues and details of routes and rides around Oxford (and beyond).

What it costs and how to join

Membership is just £25 per year, or £15 if you're unwaged. To join you simply need to give us your contact details (Name, phone, email, address) and payment by cash or cheque. We add you to our members database and that's it.
